It’s not like being ill, it is being ill. Just because it’s less tangible than a worn tendon or excess urea crystals in your big toes, it’s still a pathology which impacts your health.
When I had cptsd , and I had a bad case of it, it often felt like my illness was outside of me, that it was happening to me. I would tell myself that it was contained within me, it was me, even if the cause was outside of me.
