Tasmanians got fucked hard by the AFL and complicit politicians today. Apparently a whistleblower has just revealed that the AFL is looking to pull out of managing People First Stadium on the Gold Coast because it’s too hard to operate in the black & we are going to be taking on 100% of the operational risk of this abortion of a project.

As a state though we did the Australian Signature move of voting against our best interests. We aren’t quite as polarised as the US yet but I see people whinging about Leftists with disturbing regularity.
Plus the whole way through this stadium crap they have been calling anyone with even basic questions about the process an “Anti”. I always wanted to reply with Anti-Corruption, Anti-Crime, Anti-Bankruptcy. But most of those mouth breathers wouldn’t appreciate that sort of nuanced position.

I can’t help but feel like you are underselling it. You forgot to mention that all these self important dickheads are running around talking about how good it’s going to be for the economy and job growth. When asked how many jobs above the 2800 it would take just to offset the latest round of job cuts they just complain that the public service is lazy and incompetent. To them public servants are all middle management types, when you ask them to point to the lazy nurse, or teacher (or worse TA), or firefighter they act all befuddled. They have been so convincingly brainwashed that they think the whole world revolves around their specific interests. The part that depressed me the most though is the unilateral opinion they have come to that the best our children can hope for is to be in effect indentured servants to the AFL. I started watching the new series Spartacus: House of Ashur on Friday night, and seeing the parallels of gladiators having their lives thrown away by rich men with the only potential hope being to be one of the vanishingly few who received a Rudis, and our current state culture…
I think to mitigate the social damage we need a strong base of Independents legislate against gambling. Can you imagine the AFLs reaction if gambling became the new cigarettes starting from Tasmania?
Would premier league sports even function in Australia if gambling was restricted in the same way as cigarettes?
