(CW- probably even more homophobic if you translate the comments. The only two reply emojis used are 😄 and 👍) Original facebook post in Ukrainian: https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=509289528088260&set=a.291441629873052
Bastion of democracy and liberal values
The user tags can be misleading and used ironically, especially when there’s an asterisk where they’re signalling support for the country and not its leadership, but it’s generally the only place where NAFO sadists can’t trumpet the war. When combat footage is posted the dominant message is “this is a pointless waste of life” no matter who is dying, with a realistic outlook on Ukrainian prospects and critical perspective toward both leaders. It has a higher volume of posts than here and I like to follow all aspects of the war, but it really shows why Lemmy is inherently better.
As in "we can at least have two instances free of nafobots? Because they are everywhere else on lemmy.
I’m part of one of those instances and we’re defederated from the worst of the liberals. If other instances are still federated with them, that’s their choice and the obvious consequence is having to interact with social fascists cheerleading every war they can see as White Vs Evil. Once you do blacklist them it’s pretty great.
I don’t believe Reddit’s reactionary culture is natural. Board members being on the Atlantic council for example can influence the zeitgeist there. I don’t see how Lemmy could be somehow immune to such influence steering.
