I like the comic. But also, in what world is waking up with the sun visibly up in the sky “the early bird”? My wife and I are up at 4:00 a.m. everyday, not because I want to be. That’s just the early bird life. And you know, the job of people who serve breakfast (she does).

He’s not talkin about the time of day, but the fact he’s headed out for the purge three days in advance.

That’s fair. For me it was just the combination of that visual of the sun relatively high with that phrase. Even during the longest days of the year in summer I’m up before the sun 90% of the time.

Maybe that is supposed to be your reaction on the first panel, but by the fourth panel it makes sense. Maybe you didn’t get to the fourth panel before commenting?

I guess yeah, but in a sense he wasn’t the early bird in any sense of the word. He woke up late in the day and showed up late to the purge. Also three days early with probably not ebough gear to camp out that long. I know I overanalyze everything but I’m also a backpacker. Maybe he has a bunch of ultralight gear and some dehydrated meals in that little pack.

No, no, I think it does make sense. He’s suggesting anything up until 5am is just a bird that is really late from the previous day, then from 5am onwards, they are an early bird for the next day.
