Hello!
Is there a place where one could offer stories which would be interesting to write to authors which might be looking for stories?
I have a life story to give and work out but I am no author, but I think it’s worth telling.
Other than straight up paying a ghost writer, are there people interested in doing this?
Thanks
I am somewhat doubtful anyone would be interested in that. Maybe in a collaborative fashion where multiple people write on a public domain work.
In general people have no shortage of ideas, but time (and sometimes skills) to flesh them out into real stories is what is lacking.
But feel free to post some of your ideas (with a clear license that allows reuse) here and maybe there will be people interested in taking them up.
Thanks for your answer, thought as much.
Possible it’s best to just forget the whole thing.
Just one correction: might be that I didn’t state this clearly. It’s literally about my life. And death, and life again. Most people don’t live to tell the tale and especially aren’t as alive as me again. This alone is a long story but paired with ridiculously insane coincidences which would make a story ‘unrealistic’, but it (provably) happened. There’s a lot more to this medically, too. Well, and a turbulent life around that.
That’s why I often return to the thought. But I still have a regular work life as everyone else and am not a writer.
That’s why I asked.
Nevertheless, thanks for your time.
It’s hard enough to motivate yourself to write when you have a personal connection to a story, so I am dubious that this kind of relationship would be easy to find.
I would suggest that the best person to write your story is you. Even if you aren’t a skilled writer, your heart and passion will go a long way. And if you are working on a story, then other writers will be much more inclined to help you out if you’re stuck or struggling on a particular part (even if they don’t do the actual writing for you).
Once you have your draft, then you can enlist the help of an editor to make it flow better.
Thanks!
Please see my other answer for a lot more info.
You’re right only I know my perspective of my life, however I don’t think I can tell a long and complicated story in any coherent way. My brain does not work that way. I think I’d like 4D paper or something.
(no I don’t think I am great with this, it’s a rather big issue)
What do you mean about not being an author?
If you’re referring to a post, touché.
However it all falls apart pretty quickly with my mind, even more so recently.
But on a more factual level, I am a technical expert. I can write howtos and documentation, given the time, but all that is easy from a structure point of view.
I wasn’t referring to anything. I was merely trying to understand why you felt you could not write stories etc.
I do understand that the writing skills you currently have do not lend themselves to writing stories. However, I’d say that it may be possible to learn how to do so.
I am not sure what you mean about it falling apart in your mind, would you like to explain more?
Sure! I always thought of this as having a massive cpu but almost no ram or storage. So while I can keep things in my mind and maybe do some impressive thinking it’s a ‘sliding window’ and older parts drop out of it fairly quickly.
It’s literally hard to keep thoughts together. I also have strong non diagnosed but very possible neurodivergent tendencies.
I noticed the above early in my life. When getting into deep discussions there are sudden dead ends my brain gets in and that’s it.
Oh, hmm. Have you ever thought about going to get diagnosed and maybe meds or some such to help?
Yes, of course. And in my country the health system is quite OK too. But I have overcome so many obstacles and already have so many diagnoses (medical, matter of fact proof) that it really does not matter anymore.
I also have been on medication regarding this already, that helped but also muffled down everything among other disadvantages.
