oh my god… why is that site so much faster to load? i didn’t even realize how long it takes for hexbear pages to load until I went there… shit loads damn near instantly
Could be a lot of reasons. Distance to the server can be a big one on a slower connection. I even see a slight difference in the loading time with a fast connection (500 Mbps). Idk exactly how Lemmy is implemented, but it could also be inefficient API requests or caching.
The custom emojis probably do not help
