Coincidentally just a few weeks ago I rewatched “Heat” for the nth time. I can’t believe Mann is trying to turn it into a franchise. He’s 82. He has four daughters. I wonder if any of them dreams of being a director. Maybe one of them will nepobaby direct “Heat 3”.
I read your comment many hours ago yet Heat 2 being a blatant money grab continued to bother me. Why should I care? That’s the norm for the US. But after I rewatched Heat - I listened to Mann’s commentary track. He struck me as somebody who had integrity. Or at least some integrity. It’s disappointing.
It’s a reboot of sorts of the original. It’s controversial. Pacino, De Niro “appear” in full-licensed realer-than-real AI™. But the movie faces a significant #JustDieAlready backlash. Both the actors died many years before. Also bad boy nepobaby Mike “Trouble” Mann - grandson of Michael Mann - is at the helm and has created significant chaos on set.
Every ancient fuck in Hollywood is staring down the barrel of mortality and all of them absolutely must squeeze out one last wet fart before they croak

I checked out the Heat 2 book thingy, thinking to myself, “it’s Michael Mann, how bad can it be?” I couldn’t get past page 10.
It’s so much worse than you might imagine, not even fanfic quality.

Why stop at three? I have fun making up titles for series that run too long.
Heat 5: the Icy Reckoning
Heat 6: a Snowball’s Chance
Heat 7: Final Chapter - Maybe?
