Another week in the books. Let’s chat about manga in the general discussion thread! Feel free to use this thread for questions, comments, recommendations, etc.

Like normal, please be careful with spoilers. I wrote a guide about spoilers in case you need a refresher on how to handle them (also linked in the sidebar).

Just finished reading Magic Knight Rayearth. The story was decent. The art was gorgeous. It made me wish Lord of the Rings was illustrated by CLAMP. Currently reading Magic Knight Rayearth 2.

I haven’t read Rayearth, but my wife has the physical copies. She was a big fan and has tried to convince me to at least try the anime before.

Even if you don’t read or watch it, since you have it physically anyways I’d encourage you to just flip through it and look at the art sometime.

I talked about Hero Killer (a manhwa about… I mean, you can probably guess) and my numerous issues with it multiple times in the past. It feels like a bunch of loosely connected ideas rather than a planned out story, characters don’t really sell the seriousness of what’s going on, action can be overwhelmingly chaotic etc. Despite these issues I keep coming back to it and I’m not sure why.
My best guess is the panelling as this series can get pretty creative with scene transitions and presentation in general. There’s enough eye candy that it could maybe possibly somewhat mask everything else, I think? I dunno.

Anyway, I basically caught up with the latest chapters of this and some other series - not enough to write about but I can at least pop in and confirm I’m still reading things.
