Never played 2 but I played the shit outta the first one. The blood splatter for a fatal hit was much more satisfying.
“The greatest enemy of authority, therefore, is contempt, and the surest way to undermine it is laughter.”

I’d do Bautista first. He’s a fine actor and probably a better person than this guy, but the wrinkles on his head really bother me.
There’s only one kind of capitalism.
All that changes about it is the rate of profit, which inevitably falls.
How do you all deal with braindead smug gotchas?
Nitpick their grammar. Make them sound stupid. Purposely misinterpret minor aspects of what they say, and insist they explain themselves clearly. Agree with their talking points, and then suggest something even worse and see if they agree.
And most of all, demand they post hog.
Anything else is a waste of time.
I spent a ton of hours on NWN! And then there are the fan modules, some of which leave the official campaign in the dust. The Player Resource Consortium fan project added a bunch of new classes, so it had endless replay value.
Is this floss?
Elvis has left the building.
Plus you need to group versus live where I can do everything solo with a barbarian mercenary.
That’s what kills my interest. EverQuest was designed with the intent that grouping was not just a possibility, but almost a necessity. Playing solo feels like playing an incomplete game. I’m sure partying becomes necessary past a certain point but it wouldn’t feel like EQ to me unless it started almost right away.
If you start with the default package (one team member, minimal wealth), you’ll probably have to spend a lot of time mining or doing otherwise menial tasks before you have enough cash to start a settlement. If you want to get right into the base-building, there’s no shame in picking the base starter package (six team members, pack beast, enough supplies for some basic buildings).
When picking a base site, look for intersections between two biomes. This doubles your crop options once you start farming.
Build and expand walls early on. Wildlife and bandit attacks are incessant, but they generally ignore walls. You can lock your team inside buildings in an emergency, which tends to dissuade attackers.
Don’t be afraid to save scum. The world is DANGEROUS at first, and it’s not unreasonable to give yourself a second chance if you get steamrolled by a random encounter you couldn’t have known to prepare for.
Once you build a cash reserve, visit each town to get more crafting plans. There are also many unique NPC’s looking to join up, who start with bonuses to certain skills and stats.
Build a kill-box lined with mounted guns around the main entrance to your base.
Learn the basics of combat via training dummies and assisting town guards while they repel bandit attacks. Stay near guards until you’ve toughened up a bit.
Once your base is established, imprison enemy units and keep them healed and fed. They make for great sparring partners for your advanced team members.
Beep!
“…and then you drop the vowels, so you’ve gone from “Boots and Cats and…” to “BTSS-n-KSS-n…”, and that’s it, sir. You’re beat boxing.”
Well THIS certainly looks like it has the potential to destroy my life.
They became a little more generous with newbie gear as more expansions were released. Though it had gotten to the point where you could farm silks or pelts for an hour or so and afford a few pieces of vendor trash which would last you until 30 or so.
Is this EQ official or Project 99, or another private server? All these EQ posts of yours are awakening something in me.
Could SK’s use Soulfire? Or did you just want to carry it around?
Peace and love, peace and love. This is Ringo Starr, warning you with peace and love.
Anytime someone tells me that my Windows update won’t cause problems, I remind them of Patlabor.
For Ur-Fascism there is no struggle for life but, rather, life is lived for struggle. Thus pacifism is trafficking with the enemy. It is bad because life is permanent warfare.
Thankfully now most of it is soloable thanks to the mercenary system and I think you’re allowed to multi-box too.
That kinda killed it for me. By making it solo-able, it just felt like another outdated MMORPG at a time where there were more to choose from, riding on nostalgia and sunk cost. I’d rather the game encourage co-operation and making friends right from the beginning.
I started playing EQ a few months before the Luclin models were added, so they don’t feel “wrong” to me like they seemed to with everyone else. The extra customization was nice, too.
EQ was clunky, imbalanced, broken, inaccessible, and confusing. But you generally needed a solid group to see most of it, so it stressed community more than anything I’d played before or since. I’ll always have a soft spot for it.
selling all on me at T2 FBSS SSoY or trade for monk gear PST
Not sure if they included it in #2, but you could definitely toss dirt or snow in the first game. I think it was considered a “dishonourable tactic” though.
