like in my head the four pillars of how you look are diet, exercise, skin care, and clothing/accessories. am i missing any big ones? also, where should i go for advice on how to improve on skin care and especially clothing? (i’m good on diet and exercise lol i used to see a nutritionist and she set me straight)

Diet: Google studies/papers/articles from dieticians/scientists. Nutritionists is not a protected label anybody can call themselves that
Exercise: also Google/YouTube. Look for licensed physical therapists, trainers, scientists
Skincare: I go on r/asianbeauty, r/skincareaddiction is okay but a lot of stuff like moisturizers, sunscreens, toners, east Asia has the best products but SCA is too white to know that
Fashion: Real life inspo, go to music shows, shopping centers, skate parks, anywhere with fashionable people. I also like TikTok for this. Instagram is a bit too fake
for fashion it’s best to find your own personal style instead of chasing trends or listening to what other people think looks good (especially redditors). what looks good on you will depend on your personality, body type, skin tone etc. the important thing is that you like your clothes and feel confident wearing them.
like for me, I tend to wear cooler hues, but nothing too bright/saturated. I wear a lot of neutral (grey, black) clothes because they match with just about anything. for button-up shirts I like the oxford style where the collar buttons on the sides. I’m super picky about flannel patterns, I don’t like anything too busy. you’ll never see me in a V-neck or a polo shirt. this is all just personal preference, someone else may look great with the exact opposite style
There are definitely skincare focused subreddits I’ve seen pop up. I think the big one is /r/skincareaddiction
Clothing advice subreddit either seem to devolve into circle jerks or are focused around specific trends like goth so I can’t help you much there
That’s so insanely specific honestly are you trying to avoid people you know because you think they’re going to “go easy on you”? Because I feel like that’s begging for people with horrible body image standards (and no grounds to have them at all, maybe having completely virtual body image standards) to comment anyways

but good point. mostly im just asking 1) how do i up my fashion game and 2) how do i get a skincare consultant who isn’t trying to sell me a product from their particular store? is that like a type of doctor or something?

I just do anonymous fitposting on Pleroma now since it’s so cloistered it’s like a large but semi-private group chat but I could’t tell you if online oomphies are going to give you correct fashion advice so idk. group chats were what I meant more. Also some places have the fun chance of a guy from Poast showing up and trying to roast you, then you can go on their profile and see they’re a literal child locator who hasn’t felt the touch of the sun in years.
Oh also you’re thinking of dermatologists, but they’re still gonna have the same issues as other medical
If I were to add a fifth pillar it would be mental health/cultivating a positive self image. Meditating, journaling, therapy, etc. You can workout and do skin care routines all you want, but if you’re still carrying emotional baggage about your appearance that taints how you feel when you look at your reflection, that’s how you’re gonna continue to view yourself.
