The kind of job you only take if you’re evil enough to be a mercenary but too stupid to be trusted with a gun. I don’t understand how or why they continue waking up in the morning when that’s their impact on the world.
After grad school I got sort of stranded in a small town and took a job as an insurance salesperson for a few months. Even that was too ghoulish for me and I became physically ill from stress and quit. I can’t imagine what sort of person could work in debt collection, hospital billing, or insurance denials for more than a couple of desperate months without quitting or doing something drastic.

To me they’re no different than mobsters who go collecting “protection money” but it’s for corpos instead of organzied crime.
